GolfGiftPicks privacy policy: what a visit records and who sees it
A site with no accounts and no sign-ups.
In effect since
The policy in five lines
- No accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter you didn't ask for.
- An analytics service counts visits; we see totals, not people.
- A message you send is used only to reply and to fix a guide.
- Stores you visit through our links set their own cookies.
- We don't sell personal data.
Who we are
GolfGiftPicks ("we") publishes golf gift guides for US readers.
What we collect
Reading the site needs no account and no name. We collect two kinds of information:
- Visit data, counted by our analytics service: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what kind of device they use.
- What you send us: your name, email address, topic and message, when you use the contact form or write to us.
Analytics
A web analytics service shows us how many people visit and which guides they read, so we know which lists to re-check first. It receives what any browser request carries, such as your IP address, the page you viewed and the page that sent you, and works out a rough location from it.
We look at totals, never at individual visitors, and never use the data for advertising. A content blocker or your browser's privacy settings can stop it.
Cookies
The site itself needs no cookies to work. Our analytics service may set one to tell a new visit from a returning one; your browser can block or clear it.
Messages you send us
A message gives us your name, email address, topic and words. We use them to reply and, for a correction, to check and fix the guide, never to add you to a mailing list.
We keep a message as long as we need it to answer you and to record what we corrected. Ask us, and we delete it sooner.
Leaving us for a store
"Check price" links open a store. When you follow one, you leave GolfGiftPicks and the store's own privacy policy applies, cookies included.
What loads from other servers
Our fonts load from Google Fonts and some photos from the image services that host them; each request carries your IP address, as any web request does. Our hosting provider processes the same technical data to deliver pages and stop abuse.
The few services that see your data
Only the providers that run the site for us, hosting, analytics and email, handle data on our behalf. We don't sell personal data or share it for targeted advertising.
Asking us to see or delete your data
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or use a content blocker.
- Ask what we hold about you, which in practice means messages you sent us.
- Ask us to correct or delete it, and we will.
Some US states give residents further rights over their data. We answer any request, whichever state you live in.
Do Not Track
Your browser may have a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no agreed standard for it, so the site works the same either way; we don't track visitors across other sites.
Children
GolfGiftPicks is written for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect anything from them; if a child has sent us a message, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes and questions
When this policy changes, we update this page and its "In effect since" date, and the new text applies from that day. Write to contact@golfgiftpicks.com or use our contact page.
